Xi Jinping research in Xinjiang: active development of photovoltaic and other industrial parks

On August 26, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), returned to China after attending the 15th BRICS Leaders' Meeting and paying a state visit to South Africa, and delivered an important speech after listening to reports on the work of the Party Committee and government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPC) specifically in Urumqi.

Xi Jinping stressed the need to consolidate and expand the results of poverty eradication and promote rural revitalization as an important hand in development, increase efforts in economic development and livelihood improvement, strengthen the construction of water conservancy facilities and the optimal allocation of water resources, actively develop modern agriculture and industrial parks such as photovoltaic, and cultivate new poles of growth for development based on resource endowments.

To build a new development pattern, promote high-quality development, and advance Chinese-style modernization, Xinjiang faces new opportunities and needs to take new actions. Based on resource endowment, location advantages and industrial foundation, we should vigorously promote scientific and technological innovation, cultivate and grow characteristic advantageous industries, actively develop new industries, accelerate the construction of a modernized industrial system reflecting Xinjiang's characteristics and advantages, promote Xinjiang on the track of high-quality development, and build a socialist modernized country in a comprehensive manner together with the whole country. The most difficult task in realizing social stability and high-quality development in Xinjiang lies in the countryside. It is necessary to do a good job of counterpart support, strengthen industrial cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Xinjiang and the mainland, encourage and guide the people of Xinjiang to go to the mainland for employment, and encourage and support the mainland population to start businesses and live in Xinjiang. Xinjiang's unique location should be brought into full play, and it should actively serve and integrate into the new development pattern; it should do a good job of opening up to the outside world from a practical standpoint, accelerating the construction of the core area of the "Belt and Road", so as to enable Xinjiang to become a bridgehead for China's opening up to the west.
