What's New

Shandong Henan and Zhejiang have invested more than 12 billion yuan in photovoltaics!

Regarding the problem of photovoltaic overcapacity, Li Zhenguo, founder of LONGi Green Energy, said, "It may be next month, it may be next quarter...but the later it happens, the stronger the degree of excess will be." He predicted that in the next two or three years, there will be More than half of the enterprises were eliminated.

Gao Jifan, the founder of Trina Solar, said: "There is a strange phenomenon in the photovoltaic industry: everyone thinks that the industry has excess capacity, but it is the excess capacity of others, and the excess capacity of our own home is not!"

Cao Renxian, the founder of Sungrow, issued a warning that photovoltaic companies should focus on their main business, "stop thinking about other people's rice, and stop thinking about other people's affairs."

However, for the investors and entrepreneurs involved, the photovoltaic market is a high-quality track, full of opportunities, and can bring huge profits. For local governments, signing and starting a batch of photovoltaic manufacturing projects will drive billions or tens of billions of investment, which has an important impact on the local economy. Under the interweaving of two factors, the photovoltaic manufacturing in July set off another wave of expansion!

According to the statistics of International Energy Network/Photovoltaic Headlines (PV-2005), in July this year, 62 photovoltaic manufacturing related projects were signed, started and put into operation, and the newly signed investment amounted to 96.613 billion yuan.

After entering July, leading companies represented by Tongwei, Trina Solar, JA Solar, and Canadian Solar are still making frequent moves, signing contracts and launching new production capacity. New entrants and cross-border companies also signed billions or even tens of billions of projects. In terms of provinces and cities, the work of photovoltaic investment promotion is also continuing to advance, and many billions or even tens of billions of projects have been signed and landed.

From the perspective of enterprises, Guosheng Energy, Canadian Solar, and Trina Solar led the July photovoltaic manufacturing investment list. Among them, China Sheng Energy's 21.8 billion yuan integrated project was signed in Inner Mongolia. After Canadian Solar landed on the A-share market, it has abundant funds and invested 18 billion yuan in Inner Mongolia to build an integrated production capacity. Trina Solar turned its attention to Jiangsu, its base camp, and Sichuan, where the photovoltaic industry is concentrated, and threw out an investment plan of 10.3 billion yuan.

Under the current economic environment, the new energy industry represented by photovoltaics is expected to become an important engine driving local economic transformation and sustainable development. The degree of agglomeration of the photovoltaic new energy industry chain has become a demonstration of the economic vitality of a local government, and it is also a reliable guarantee for sustained economic growth in the future for a long time. Therefore, the local government attaches great importance to attracting investment in the photovoltaic manufacturing industry. For example, the monocrystalline silicon project of Sany Silicon Energy was settled in Shuozhou, Shanxi. Secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Governor met with Xiang Wenbo, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rotating Chairman of Sany Group. At the commencement ceremony of Canadian Solar's 18 billion project, the secretary, deputy secretary and mayor of Huhehaote all attended.

In July, Inner Mongolia ranked first in terms of provincial and municipal investment promotion for the photovoltaic manufacturing industry, and successively introduced two tens of billions of integrated photovoltaic projects from Guosheng Energy and Canadian Solar. In addition, the photovoltaic projects of Zhejiang Xingyu Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. and Risheng New Energy Co., Ltd. also settled in Inner Mongolia. Xinjiang, which ranks second, has an investment of 14.558 billion yuan in newly signed photovoltaic projects. Sichuan ranks third, and has introduced two major photovoltaic cell and monocrystalline silicon rod projects, Tongwei and Trina Solar. In addition, Jiangsu, a major province of photovoltaic manufacturing, has newly signed 5 projects. The investment companies include Chuangu Technology, Trina Solar, Shichuang Energy and Bangjie.

There are two silicon materials projects with a total scale of 320,000 tons. The companies involved include Tongwei and Risun Group. As a leader in polysilicon, Tongwei has launched a 200,000-ton polysilicon project without fear of overcapacity, which shows its confidence in the industry. Risun Group's polysilicon project with a total investment of 11.286 billion yuan was also launched in July, and the planned construction period is from September 2023 to September 2025.

There are 3 silicon wafer projects with a total scale of 60GW. The companies involved include Changxin Photovoltaic, Fuxing New Energy, and Yingfa Ruineng. The silicon wafer projects of the three companies are all N-type silicon wafer projects.

There are 8 battery projects with a total scale of 74.6GW. The companies involved include Wuzhu Technology, Heyou Chongqing, Liansu Banhao, Lingda, Changxin Photovoltaic, Itna, Haiyuan Composite Materials, Yingfa Ruineng, etc. 8 companies.

Judging from the battery projects started, although the N-type TOPCon project still dominates, the heterojunction battery project also has a tendency to expand. Both Wuzhu Technology and Jiangxi Saiwei's new battery projects have adopted the HJT technology route.

There are 9 module projects with a total scale of 35GW, involving 8 companies including Wuzhu Technology, Jingyou Photovoltaic, Heyou Chongqing, Liansu Banhao, Ningmei New Energy, Alder Optoelectronics, Xinshengmei, and Etna. Except Liansu Banhao, Jingyou Photovoltaic, Xinshengmei and other enterprises, most of them are new cross-border enterprises.

There are 2 inverter projects, with a total scale of 28.5GW, involving 2 companies including Deye and Alder Optoelectronics. Among them, the Haiyan Deye of Deye Co., Ltd. has an annual production capacity of 25.5GW. The investment in the production line construction project of string type and energy storage inverters is as high as 2 billion yuan.

In addition, China Glass' photovoltaic cell packaging material project, China National Building Material Group's glass project, and Xiangbang Technology's photovoltaic film project also started construction in July.

The production project in the field of silicon wafers is the 20GW slicing project of Trina Solar in Suqian. The project was signed and settled in June 2022, and construction started in September. This project makes up for the silicon wafer link that Trina Solar's vertically integrated production capacity lacks, and is the first production base of Trina Solar's large-scale mass production of slices.

In the battery field, 6 projects have been put into production, with a total scale of 62GW. The companies involved are Runyang, Tongwei, JA Solar, GCL Integration, Huasheng New Energy, and Yingfa Deyao. Among them, the 20GW high-efficiency N-type TOPcon cell manufacturing project in Wuhu Base of GCL Integration (10GW in the first phase) was signed in Wuhu in October 2022, with a total investment of 8 billion yuan. The construction will be divided into two phases. The first phase of the project will officially start in February 2023. , put into operation on July 28, the construction period is only 5 months. The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year, and will become an important part of GCL Integrated's layout of N-type production capacity.

In the field of components, 9 projects have been put into production, with a total scale of 32.5GW.
