Two major power grid models connected to Deepseek

Recently, State Grid and Southern Power Grid have respectively completed the integration of their Guangming large model, Dawua super large model, and DeepSeek large model.


State Grid


On February 17th, State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) completed the localization and adaptation deployment of the DeepSeek large model based on the domestic computing infrastructure of the Intelligent Computing Center, and opened it to SGCC employees through AI assistants such as "i State Grid". The "i State Grid" AI assistant is based on the Guangming big model and is open to various intelligent office capabilities such as intelligent writing, meeting minutes, and precise retrieval for company employees.


In December 2024, State Grid Corporation of China released the Guangming Model, a billion dollar multimodal large-scale model for the power industry, covering more than 600 application scenarios such as power grid planning and operation, power equipment maintenance, and power supply services. It can provide professional and intelligent services for the entire industry chain of power production, construction, management, operation, scientific research, manufacturing, and services, realizing the collaborative empowerment of power and computing power, and assisting in the construction of new power systems and new energy systems.


In addition to the V3 and R1 versions of the 671B parameter, the DeepSeek big model introduced this time also applies key technologies such as long thought chain reasoning and model distillation to enhance the inference training of the Guangming big model with the 20A parameter version. It has initially acquired the ability of deep reasoning in the field of electric power, marking the addition of new members to the Guangming big model.

On February 12th, the artificial intelligence innovation platform of Southern Power Grid completed the local deployment of the open-source large-scale model DeepSeek. The power large-scale model system has been fully introduced and adapted to the DeepSeek series models, and has been officially opened for use.


Based on the open technology route of the "Big Watt" model system, the natural language programming (NLP) basic model has been rapidly upgraded and iterated to billions of parameter levels. Meanwhile, by deeply integrating DeepSeek's algorithm optimization and other innovative capabilities, the effectiveness of artificial intelligence applications in various business fields of Southern Power Grid will be further enhanced.


The upgraded "Big Watt" model system can provide higher performance distributed and high concurrency inference services in an intranet secure environment; Launch multi specification models with full parameters ranging from 1.5B, 7B, 14B, 32B to 671B, supporting flexible deployment in different computing resource environments; Provide a visual construction platform for "drag, pull, drag", supporting non AI professionals to quickly build intelligent agent applications suitable for their own work scenarios; It has been connected to the South Grid Power Knowledge Base and possesses professional knowledge in various business areas such as power production and marketing, meeting the professional needs of different business areas.


Southern Power Grid is accelerating the application of models to empower the "two types of construction". Release a guide for local deployment, optimization, and intelligent agent construction of the "Big Watt" model system to guide rapid application across the entire network; Accelerate the development of power AI applications based on the "Big Watt" model system, organize pilot applications in various business fields and units, and empower business to improve quality and efficiency. Using logical reasoning data from the power industry to distill "large watts", transferring the ability of powerful models to small-scale models, reducing computational costs and deployment difficulties, optimizing reasoning capabilities, improving edge and end side algorithm model performance, and better supporting the "two type construction".


It is reported that the first batch of 10 "big watt" scenario demonstration projects of Southern Power Grid have been fully accepted, covering 7 business domains including human resources, political research, marketing, transmission and distribution, digitization, safety supervision, and system operation. They have produced 10 L1 level large models, 24 L2 level scenario large models, and corresponding sample sets.


In the field of power transmission and distribution, Southern Power Grid Guangxi Power Grid has established an intelligent inspection algorithm for transmission equipment to identify 30 types of transmission defect and hidden danger scenarios. Since its operation, it has effectively identified 86100 transmission line defects and 253000 channel hidden dangers, efficiently empowering production and operation and maintenance; Southern Power Grid Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau's intelligent inspection of substation equipment has the ability to identify 15 types of substation defect and hidden danger scenarios. It can automatically push alarms through the pre-set positions of associated substation cameras, empowering digital production; The intelligent inspection of distribution equipment in Guangdong Power Grid of Southern Power Grid has achieved efficient identification of massive content defects and hidden dangers. The accuracy of detecting 45 typical distribution network defects and hidden dangers has increased by more than 80%, and the efficiency and accuracy of defect and hidden danger diagnosis have been greatly improved.

In the system operation domain, the demonstration project of new energy power prediction for the Southern Power Grid has been built to adapt to the meteorological prediction model of new energy power prediction, achieving a 3-kilometer x 3-kilometer x 15 minute meteorological data forecast, improving the accuracy of new energy output prediction, and serving the operation of the electricity market.


Southern Power Grid Corporation will actively cooperate with various emerging AI enterprises, explore the landing and application solutions of cutting-edge AI technology in the power industry, jointly build an AI open ecosystem in the power industry, and continue to accelerate the key core technology research and development in the field of new generation artificial intelligence, forging more "trump card" products, and achieving full chain innovation from basic research to industrialization.
