Huaneng Shidao Bay nuclear expansion: Unit 2 construction begins!
On May 7th, with the successful pouring of the first tank of concrete (FCD) for Unit 2 of the first phase expansion project of Huaneng Shidao Bay Nuclear Power Plant, the project has entered the comprehensive construction stage, and the construction of China's first comprehensive nuclear power base integrating third-generation and fourth generation nuclear power technologies has been accelerated.
The Huaneng Shidao Bay Nuclear Power Expansion Project is located in Rongcheng City, Shandong Province. It plans to construct four million kilowatt pressurized water reactor nuclear power units, using China's independent third-generation nuclear power technology "Hualong One", with a total installed capacity of over 5 million kilowatts. The project will be planned in one phase and constructed in two phases.
The construction of the first phase of the expansion project, Unit 2, with a single unit capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts, will commence on July 28, 2024. After the completion of the project, the annual power generation of each unit will exceed 10 billion kilowatt hours, which can reduce the consumption of standard coal by 3.12 million tons and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 8.16 million tons, equivalent to planting more than 70 million trees, effectively promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of energy.
