Introducing Fuxi

First China-Developed Control Chip for Power Industry into Mass Production

After five years' of development and rigorous testing in challenging  situations, China Southern Power Grid is pleased to introduce Fuxi, the first electric-specific control chip.
Armed with domestic instruction architecture and core, Fuxi has been placed into mass production.
The development and launch of Fuxi marks the first time China has transformed from "importing general chips" to "developing specific chips" for the electrical power industry and today enjoys autonomy in core components and parts of the secondary equipment.
Control chips are a core component of the secondary equipment and brain for the power industry, which involves key devices of 10 MIPS on the grid. The production of control chips has long been monopolized by overseas manufacturers, which blocks China's core technology of power grids.
While CSG, supported by national key R&D projects and based on “homemade” CPU core and assembly & test technology of domestic foundries, pooled all its scientists to find a solution to this high-speed bottleneck.
Since Year 2019, Fuxi has been tested and applied to the grid control and protection, automatic operation and new energy systems with satisfactory performance.
That Fuxi has been developed and produced on a large scale is testament of China's growing autonomy in national power and information safety and industrial automation management.
Next up, CSG senior managers will be incrementally increasing the homemade chip coverage in new devices for the power industry, following the idea of "piloting it once developed successfully and promoting it once piloted smoothly" to realize a large-scale application of domestic control chips and to prevent and eliminate potential risks in grid operation.
